BASIC WRITING APPEAL INSTRUCTIONS

You must turn in a portfolio of your written work produced during the quarter.  This portfolio must include all the papers you wrote in the Basic Writing course; these papers must be the original copies handed in to your instructor, not newly edited versions.  You may, if you wish, include papers written for other classes, such as in MMW or DOC. Along with your portfolio, you must also turn in a self-addressed, stamped envelope so your results can be mailed to you.

Appeals are due in the Basic Writing office no later than Wednesday, September 17, at 11:00 a.m. The Appeal Committee will meet the following day and results will be mailed that same day.

Students who successfully appeal their results must drop themselves from SDCC 1 or SDCC 4 via TritonLink. If you need to add an SDCC 1 or SDCC 4 section, you must log onto TritonLink and find an available section.

We will hold all portfolios submitted with appeal forms.  You may pick them up in the Basic Writing office (232 Literature Bldg.) if you would like to have them back.  Papers will be held for one quarter and then discarded.

All appeal determinations are FINAL.

Bear in mind that relatively few appeals are usually sustained.  The mere fact of turning in your portfolio does not mean you can assume success in the appeal process.
